The resources of an organization include everything from the financial resources, tangible assets to the human resources. The system generally operates from a common platform and functions to collect information and make it available to the different levels in an organization. The term Enterprise Resource Planning first came into being in the year 1990 and was used by the Gartner group. ERP takes care of the different departments and levels in an organization. Right from the manufacturing, accounting to the shipping and delivery are some of the activities taken care of by the system. The various departments or activities in a business organization like the production, marketing, sales, logistics to financial and human resource management is all facilitated by Enterprise Management Planning. With computers simplifying and making easy the tasks in an organization, ERP and other systems are only becoming more important for the efficient functioning of an organization or business.
