It shares its borders with Liberia and Guinea. It is spread over an area of 71,740 sq kms. Sierra Leone has a population of approximately 6.4 million. A constitutional republic, the President is both the Head of State and the Head of Government. Freetown is the capital of Sierra Leone. English is the official language here. Leone is the official currency of the country. Islam is the predominant religion of the land with approximately 77% of the people being Muslims. The country is divided into 4 distinct regions, namely, the Northern Province, the Southern Province, the Western and the Eastern Province.
