The Republic of Botswana is situated in Southern Africa. It is located between 17 deg and 27 deg S latitudes and 20 deg and 30 deg E longitudes. It is spread over an area of approximately 600,370 sq kms. The population of the land is approximately 2 million.The people belonging to Botswana are known as “Batswana”. Gaborone is the capital of Botswana. English along with Setswana are the official languages of the land. Pula is the currency of Botswana. The country is divided into 16 districts out of which 10 belong to the category of rural districts and 6 are urban. Christianity is the predominant religion in Botswana. At the time of Independence the country was in a poor state and had to truly struggle hard to move on to the path of progress and development. The excellent planning and hard work of the Government together with the people of Botswana is evident from the way the country is progressing by leaps and bounds. It is now one among the fastest growing economies of the world with a high per capita income and rate of growth in the GDP.
