The Republic of Benin is located in the Western part of the African continent. It is located between 6 deg and 13 deg N latitudes and 0 deg and 4 deg E longitudes. It is spread over an area of about 110,000 sq kms. The population of Benin is about 9 million. The country shares its boundaries with Togo, Nigeria, Niger and Burkin Faso. The capital of the country is Porto Novo. Cotonou is the largest city in Benin. French is the official language of the land. Roman Catholicism is the predominant religion in the country. It has a multiparty democracy form of Government. Agriculture is the main source of employment and income for the people of Benin.
