Loans refer to a borrowing or debt. There are two parties involved in a loan. One is the borrower and is the one who takes the money or loan and the other is the lender, who lends the money. The amount borrowed is known as the principal and for the money lend the lender charges an interest which is calculated as a percentage of the principal. Loans are generally granted by banks and other financial institutions. Loans may be either secured or unsecured. When a loan is taken against some security or any asset offered as collateral it is referred to as secured loan, whereas on the other hand, an unsecured loan is not secured by a collateral. Generally, the secured loan is available at an interest rate lower than the unsecured loan as the lender is secured against any risk of non-repayment. Loans provide financial freedom for both individuals and organizations and make it possible to postpone the payment of money to a future date.
