Baseball is one of the most popular games in the United States and is fast gaining ground in other parts of the world too. The sport is played as a bat and ball game. Baseball is played between two teams one team takes on the batting and the other the fielding or pitching. Each team has 9 players. The aim of each team is to hit the ball with the bat and run to touch the 4 bases located at every corner of the ground. The pitching or bowling team must try to restrict the batting team as the team with the highest score wins. Each game has 9 innings (a turn at batting is referred to as an inning).When the pitching team has got 3 outs to their credit they move on to the batting position. The positions are interchanged between the two teams as per the laid down rules and regulations of the sport. Baseball is a sport played both for recreational purposes and also on a competitive level.
